Get Ready to Make the Most of the 2022-2023 School Year with UCPS
The 2022-2023 school year is almost here, and the Union County Public School (UCPS) calendar is packed with exciting new opportunities for students, teachers, and parents. From the start of the school year in August to the end of the school year in June, UCPS students will have plenty of time to learn, grow, and have fun. Here’s an overview of the UCPS calendar for the 2022-2023 school year, so you can start planning for the year ahead.
August: UCPS School Year Begins
The 2022-2023 school year kicks off in August, with the first day of school being Monday, August 14th. This year, UCPS is implementing a new “hybrid learning” model for the start of the school year. This means that some students will attend classes in person and some students will attend classes remotely. All students will be expected to follow their assigned learning plan and adhere to UCPS’ health and safety guidelines.
In addition to the start of the school year, UCPS will also be hosting a series of virtual and in-person orientation sessions throughout the month of August. These orientation sessions will provide students, teachers, and parents with the opportunity to learn more about the UCPS calendar and the hybrid learning model. Additionally, these orientation sessions will also provide students with the chance to meet their teachers and classmates before the school year begins.
September: Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month
September marks the start of Hispanic Heritage Month at UCPS. Throughout the month, students, teachers, and parents are invited to celebrate the contributions and culture of Hispanic and Latino Americans. Events and activities will include virtual cultural celebrations, language learning opportunities, and more. Additionally, UCPS will be hosting a special virtual event with guest speakers, cultural activities, and more.
October: Fall Break and National Principals Month
October is a special month for UCPS, as it marks the start of Fall Break. This year, Fall Break will run from Thursday, October 5th through Sunday, October 8th. During this time, students will have the chance to rest, relax, and recharge for the second half of the school year. October is also National Principals Month, which UCPS will be celebrating with special events and activities.
November: UCPS Celebrates American Education Week
November marks American Education Week, a special weeklong event that celebrates public education in the United States. This year, UCPS will be hosting a variety of special events, activities, and more throughout the week. Additionally, UCPS will also be hosting a special virtual Town Hall event, where students, teachers, and parents can come together to discuss the importance of public education.
December: Celebrate the Holidays and UCPS Winter Break
December is a special month for UCPS, as it marks the start of the holiday season and the start of UCPS Winter Break. This year, Winter Break will run from Monday, December 18th to Friday, January 5th. During this time, students will have the opportunity to take a break from school and spend quality time with their loved ones. Additionally, UCPS will be hosting a variety of virtual holiday events and activities for students, teachers, and parents.
January: Back to School After Winter Break
After Winter Break, students will be expected to return to school on Monday, January 8th. This year, UCPS is implementing a new “flexible learning” model for the start of the school year. This means that students can choose to attend classes either in person or remotely, depending on their needs. All students will be expected to follow their assigned learning plan and adhere to UCPS’ health and safety guidelines.
February: Celebrate Black History Month
February marks the start of Black History Month at UCPS. Throughout the month, students, teachers, and parents are invited to celebrate the contributions and culture of African-Americans. Additionally, UCPS will be hosting a special virtual event with guest speakers, cultural activities, and more.
March: Spring Break and National Women’s History Month
March is a special month for UCPS, as it marks the start of Spring Break. This year, Spring Break will run from Monday, March 19th through Friday, March 23rd. During this time, students will have the chance to rest, relax, and recharge for the final stretch of the school year. March is also National Women’s History Month, which UCPS will be celebrating with special events and activities.
April: UCPS Celebrates Earth Day
April marks the start of Earth Day at UCPS. Throughout the month, students, teachers, and parents are invited to celebrate the importance of protecting the environment. Events and activities will include virtual nature walks, recycling initiatives, and more.
